Using iOS 26, Apple has expanded its native call recording feature with translations, direct translation, summary, and stricter integration with notes. It is a more polished and useful tool than before, especially if you rely on your iPhone interview, meetings or important conversations.
Call Recording first arrived with iOS 18.1 in 2024. October This feature has always been dependent on regions and language, and it has not changed. How to check if there is a call recording
First confirm that this feature is supported in your region. Apple supports a feature availability page that lists countries that do not offer call recording, including the European Union, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. If your country is on that list, you won’t see the option on the phone.
You will need a person’s consent at the other end of the line before recording a phone call. When you start recording, both parties hear a sound message stating that the call is recorded.
How to record a call on iPhone
The call recording is simple:

To listen, open the notes, go to the Call Recordings folder and tap the file you want. Tap Play to hear it.

How to rewrite calls
If your region and language are supported, iOS 26 also rewrites calls. Open the entry in the notes, then tap Display a transcript and summary; Processing can take a few moments, but when it is ready, you will see the speaker’s broken conversation. From there you can search the text, copy it to another note, or tap the line to move to that part of the sound. Apple warns transcripts to be flawless, so check again to make sure that the important information is correct.
Summates of Apple Intelligence
When you turn on the Apple Intelligence, you will also get a generated call summary. This is convenient if you only need the most important events – for example, the action elements from the meeting or basic interview points. Summates are presented with transcript in the notes.
How to turn off the call recording
By default, call recording is turned on in supported devices. If you do not want the option at all, go to SettingsChoose ProgramsThen The phoneTap Call the record and switch.
Alternatives if call recording is not
If you are in a region that does not have a built -in feature or you use the previous version of iOS, there are still other ways to record calls.
The US Federal Law dictates the consent of one party. This means that you can record a phone call as long as you are actively involved in the conversation. However, it is important that you check state laws (USA) or the relevant laws in your country before recording a phone call. Remember that these options are not integrated with Apple Notes or Apple Intelligence, but they give you a backup if the official method is not supported where you live.
